Central Oregon Trip

Trail rides tour the high desert landscape common to much of central and eastern Oregon. This is country out of a western movie, complete with tumbleweeds, lizards, and Ponderosa Pines. We will be camping and riding on a private horse camp owned by the Redmond Saddle Club. The site offers primitive camping with flat, wide trails. Price is $100 per rider.

This trip is open to riders with disabilities and their significant others. RSVP required. There are also hotel accommodations in the town of Sisters, Oregon named for the 10,000 foot Three Sisters mountains. The town of Sisters is located between the snowy
Cascade Mountains and the Central Oregon High Desert. This 1880's Western town has over 60 unique stores and gift shops.

We will be camping at an unimproved horsecamp with semi-accessible facilities. Bring your tent, sleeping bag, or RV.

Forest Camp Trip

This is our annual "Forest Trip" which is open to riders with disabilities and their significant others. We will be camping and riding at Silver Falls State Park located near Sublimity Oregon. Price is $100 per rider. RSVP required. Silver Falls State Park offers both camping and lodge type accommodations. If you want to rent a cabin or a private room at the conference center make your reservations now because things will book quickly. There are also hotel accommodations in the towns of Stayton and Silverton which are within a reasonable driving distance of the Park.

Experience the forests of Oregon's wild and beautiful cascade mountains. Huge Douglas firs and spruces tower above you with a soft cushion of needles underfoot. In this wildlife preserve you may see a variety of animals and birds - deer, beavers, quail, raccoons, osprey, and many others are native to this area. This is a peaceful place - the only sounds are jays scolding, the rustle of branches in the breeze, the squeak of saddle leather, the muffled sound horses hooves, and the musical notes of a stream running over its rocky bed.

Spot deer grazing alongside the trail, unconcerned at your presence. After your ride you may want to take a walk on one of the accessible nature trails or try your artistic skills at sketching your wonderful surroundings. In the evening, sit around the campfire with the new friends you've met, telling stories about the day just past and roasting marshmallows for s'mores. go to sleep to a lullaby sung by crickets and tree frogs.

We will be camping at an improved horsecamp with accessible facilities including showers, bathrooms and a mounting ramp. Bring your tent or RV, or stay at the nearby lodge for a modest fee for a less rustic vacation.

Wilderness Camp Trip

This is our most challenging trip of the year. This trip is open to riders with disabilities and their significant others. Location to be announced. Cost is $300 per rider which includes food. RSVP required. These dates are tentative and include volunteer only days prior to, and after the trip.

Surrounded by The rugged peaks of the Cascade Range, you will marvel at the scenery as your horse carefully picks its footing along trails lined with the rubble of ancient lava flows which once poured down these mountain slopes. The sky seems even bluer than usual at this altitude & the air is crisp even in August. Warmed by the sun as you ride, you may visit pristine meadows, sparkling mountain glaciers and snow fed lakes. The meadows you'll explore are splashed with wildflowers, frothy white bear grass, pale yellow nodding avalanche lilies, and the vivid blue shades of lupine. As you take in the beautiful scenery be sure to watch for signs of movement on the rocks or tall grass, this area is filled with wildlife.

This is the most riding you'll do on one of our trips. The group will pack in to base camp the first day and set up. Each day there will be opportunities to ride to new areas and explore not only the rugged wilderness, but your own ability to meet the challenges the wilderness has to offer. Frost at night is common and an occasional thunder shower may light up the evening sky. The campfire is more than welcome as it becomes the center of warmth, companionship and a hot meal. Songs and stories drift into the night as stars watch over the sleeping camp. The perfect vacation for the hardy adventurer! Every day is a new challenge. Beauty surrounds. Time stands still. Once you have been there, it will always be yours. You never really leave a place like this, you carry it with you in memories, photos, and friendships to keep.

Beach Camping Trip

We will be camping on Baker Beach, which provides accessible restrooms but no water or other facilities. Hotel accommodations are available in the nearby town of Florence. The price is $100 per rider. This trip is open to riders with disabilities and their significant others. RSVP required. Fee does not include campsite fees or hotel accommodations.

Oregonians are blessed with one of the most beautiful coastlines in the world. Rugged rocky cliffs break up stretches of smooth sandy beach. The temperate rainforests of the Coast Range extend nearly to the top of the cliffs.

This is the most beautiful time of year at the coast, the weather is usually wonderful, but you should come prepared for rain or wind just in case. If tent camping is not your idea of fun, there are motels nearby that have accessible rooms available.

Horse camping takes the rider to the Spectacular and Unspoiled. Providing activities which focus on the limitless, not the limitation. Specially trained horses, skilled volunteers, & custom saddles and other adaptive equipment make horse camping possible for many for many who were previously believed to be unable to ride.
